1953 MG TD - Barn Find
Perhaps no other car exemplifies the British touring heritage better than the MG. As a builder of classic British roadsters, the MG has long been a favorite on tours both in Europe and the U.S. MG has also found its place on the racetrack as well with competition cars earning many top spots at tracks all over the world. In the present day, MG retains a commanding presence on both the concours field and in vintage racing events.
While good examples of the TD are getting harder to find, this example is an unmolested survivor that has been in extended storage for several decades. Nevertheless, this wonderful sports car from the past has been returned to excellent running condition and is ready for touring of any distance. As a true barn find car, it will certainly turn heads wherever it goes. It can be driven in its preserved state or is an excellent start for a concours quality restoration. The versatility of this MG is also demonstrated by the fact that it can also be fitted for VCCA racing events of which the MG TD is well-known for. Barn find cars always gather their fair share of attention, and this MG TD is sure to gather crowds wherever it goes. Best of all is that this car can be driven “as is” and remain the attention getter that its current charm holds. This car is also a solid automobile with excellent wood and no damage evident. The winning bidder will not only get lots of attention with this excellent sports car, but be gratified in knowing that the total sales commission will be donated to the Westport Country Playhouse.
A good design needs no drastic improvement over time. The MG TD was produced from 1949 to August of 1953 and during that time there were only minor changes made. The TD is a car that represents the spirited performance of MG very well and this example is ready for restoration and will make a great addition to any sports car collection.
