1960 Chevrolet El Camino

$36,500.00

The Chevy El Camino was introduced to the world in 1959 and has since become one of the most iconic cars ever produced by General Motors. While all El Camino’s have an interesting place in automotive history, the first generation in 1959 and 1960 were by far the most outrageous and sleek looking of them all. Based on a car chassis, the first generation cars had styling that also carried over from the passenger cars with big tail fins, simulated jets flying down the quarter panels, car dashboards and interiors and even a shortened flattop roof and wraparound rear window for the passenger compartment. These cars are nothing short of cool. Today it has become very difficult to find an original first generation 1959 or 1960 El Camino that is in excellent original condition that has not been either neglected or customized in some manner.

Offered here is a very well restored 1960 El Camino that has just come from a long time ownership here in Connecticut. It was purchased years ago from the midwest and then restored more recently to its original condition as it left the factory in 1960. It retains its original 235 cubic inch six cylinder and three speed manual transmission on the column. It is a base model car which makes it even more interesting and quite fun and a rare sight to see. Finished in red with a grey interior, the body is very straight and the chrome is in beautifully restored condition. The interior is vinyl and cloth, as original, and is beautifully and correctly done. Only 54,000 original miles showing on the odometer, the car runs and drives really well and is very comfortable and fun to drive. It’s not only good looking and fun, but very useful as well, the ultimate car to take to a swap meet or even to run errands around town. The underside is also clean showing the car was always a pretty straight original example. The bed is also in great condition, even retaining its original ribbed bed floor. Overall this is an excellent and really sharp, well restored example of a 1960 first generation El Camino. If you are looking for one of these, this car should certainly be considered.
